b'Expanding Resident Programs and CareResident programs and care are at the very heart of Presbyterian Homes existence, and we constantly strive to ensure we excelin these areas. We are now even stronger clinically than we were before the pandemic. As one of the positive lingering effects of that experience, our infection control protocols will remain at an optimal level. But while we remain vigilant about infectious disease, we are happy to be returning to care basics. Yes, weare still appropriately concerned about COVID, but we are again focusing onpreventive care such as annual check-ups.As we continue to transition to a new normal for programs, we recognize that some residents may have determined they are comfortable with less interaction. Yet we now have a better understanding of the potential negative impact of isolation and separation from families. So, we maintain a careful balance between honoring resident preferences and ensuring engagement and quality of life.As one small example, residents historically havent wanted name tags for social events. Now, however, some people want a bit of help recognizing masked faces as they establish (and sometimes re-establish) connections. As with so many things, its always at the residents option. Beth Welch, Director of Community Programs at Lake Forest Place, explains it well when she says, This is the residents home. Im here simply to implement what they want.Other examples of program transitions at Lake Forest Place include movingconcerts to the pub area during traditional happy hours and, recognizing that some people are moving to Presbyterian Homes at an earlier age, gearing somemusic, fitness and other programs to younger peoples preferences.Yet another silver lining of our pandemic experience is the ability to easily pivot to virtual programs, if necessary, even when an in-person experience is planned. When the next big snowstorm snarls traffic and threatens cancellation of a lectureby a visiting professor, for example, well have the equipment and expertise to seamlessly transition to a virtual event.PRESBYTERIAN HOMES & GENEVA FOUNDATION 2022 ANNUAL REPORT7'
