b'Building on Capital ImprovementsOur capital projects continuously improve our residents safety and quality of life and our campuses function and beauty. At Westminster Place, we are nearing completion of one exciting phase ($21 million) of a 10-year planthe renovation of life safety systems at the One Calvin Circle apartments. This massively complex project married the challenges of constructionwith the need to temporarily relocate residents on a rotating basis to alternate apartments. A new staff position was added to help residents plan what theyneeded to take to their interim home, secure what they would leave behind and coordinate with movers. During this floor-by-floor exercise, which Bill Casper, Executive Director atWestminster Place, compared to a giant game of Tetris, crews rebuilt the currentelevator and added a second elevator in each building; added fire suppression sprinklers to each apartment; added a lobby with seating and a laundry room to each floor; lightened and brightened interior hallways; and created first-floor patios (especially nice for upper-floor residents without previous patio access). Members of the Resident Advisory Council gave input on finishes, furniture and artwork in common areas. At Westminster Place, the Kimball Fitness Center is receiving a completerefresh. The project reallocates space to support the needs of todays fitnessenthusiast as well as overall socialization and interaction. Fully updated locker rooms offer steam and sauna amenities. A new, dedicated studio supportsin-person and virtual training. Multi-functional spaces are suitable for socialgatherings as well as fitness activities. At Lake Forest Place, a generous, anonymous donor has made it possible torenovate the lower level concourse interior. We have completed an initial phase of the project to expand and upgrade the salon and art studio; renovate all ground-level resident and guest bathrooms; and transform the east and westcorridors to expand spaces for resident comfort and benefit, increase productivity from improved traffic flow and create flexible space for future needs.PRESBYTERIAN HOMES & GENEVA FOUNDATION 2022 ANNUAL REPORT5'
