Looking for a Senior Living Community? COVID-19 Vaccination Rates Matter

Senior woman rolls up her sleeves to show the band aid of where she got vaccinated

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has extensive information about COVID-19vaccination rates in health care facilities all over the U.S. You can search the CMS website to find out the vaccination rates of the residents and staffs of thousands of senior living communities. These communities each receive a CMS rating, which is a 5-Star scale that you can use to gauge how effectively they’re handling the safety of their residents. This rating is based on three categories:

  • Health Inspections
  • Staffing
  • Quality of Resident Care

Presbyterian Homes has mandated COVID-19 vaccination for all employees. This includes everyone who works with senior living community residents and staff members who work in our corporate offices.

Any employee of Presbyterian Homes who is not yet vaccinated is required to wear a mask at all times and follow required sanitization guidelines while on the premises. This requirement will remain in effect even after public mandates have been lifted for healthcare workers.

All three Presbyterian Homes communities are strictly following the guidelines for senior living communities put in place by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Senior Living in  Safety

Residents who live in any of the Presbyterian Homes communities are not only protected by widespread vaccination and careful sanitization practices; they’re also protected by information. The professional care staff keeps up to date on all the latest data and findings from the CDC,  the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), and all other credible and respected sources. If new precautions are recommended, if proof of vaccination for visitors is recommended, if a vaccination booster shot is recommended, we’ll be among the first to know, and we’ll act to ensure the safety of our residents.

Carefree Retirement Living

When you’re considering what to look for in a senior living community, peace of mind has to be on the top of your list. Comfortable living spaces, quality services and amenities, and a caring and qualified service staff are all certainly important. You want to be able to relax and enjoy your days, and you can if you know you’re protected from COVID-19.

Vaccination rates matter. COVID-19 affects people differently, and there’s no way to predict how it could affect you. The very best way to protect yourself, by far, is to get vaccinated, follow the CDC guidelines, and make sure you live in a community where everyone else is, too.
