Independent Living
Never retire your spirit.
Cottages, villas, townhomes and apartments are among the choices of those in our independent living communities. These residents believe life holds endless possibilities - especially when they no longer have to mow a lawn, paint the trim on their house, or worry about security. Living in a continuing care community offers supportive health care services that promote independence and peace of mind. Independent living is for people who can live without the assistance of another person. Presbyterian Homes has five independent living communities:
- Westminster Place – North Evanston
- Ten Twenty Grove – Downtown Evanston
- King Home – Downtown Evanston
- The Moorings of Arlington Heights
- Lake Forest Place
We offer a variety of residence options and floor plans to choose from: cottages or villas to town homes and apartments. All have full-sized, eat-in kitchens. Maintenance services, flexible dining options, transportation and security.
Our independent communities offer a robust activities program that is designed to meet the needs and interests of residents. Musical performances on site, concerts and plays in Chicago, wellness and fitness programs, lectures, and computer classes are just a few of the opportunities offered. Each community also boasts a state-of-the-art fitness center with a swimming pool and strength-training equipment.
Computer Use by Residents
Based on internal Presbyterian Homes’ research, we established computer resource rooms at each campus, with adaptive software and hardware suitable for the residents. This research was the subject of an article in the February 2005 issue of Gerontology and Geriatrics Education.
