Enabling older adults and their caregivers to lead quality lives

Presbyterian Homes’ Adult Day Services program serves those over the age of 60, many of whom have developed physical, mental or emotional challenges. We provide genuine care and support for these individuals by respecting their identity and needs in an open community of participants, staff and volunteers. Ninety-nine percent of our participants receive some kind of subsidy.

Adult Day Services provide an array of programs, from working in the greenhouse to ceramics, and from reminiscing sessions to drama. The goal of the Adult Day Services program is to enable older adults to continue to enjoy quality lives, providing a much-needed respite for families and caregivers. Interaction with others is vital to remaining healthy, and it becomes especially important as we age.

Great Opportunities Adult Day Services

Life continues to be filled with possibilities for those in our adult day services program. At our Great Opportunities Adult Day Service program in Skokie, older adults who require attention and support throughout the day find a wonderfully safe and supportive environment.

Great Opportunities (GO) offers weekday social and therapeutic activities and health monitoring. Each day is filled with enriching and engaging opportunities for older adults to join a community of their peers.

Participants include those who may simply need a secure weekday environment, or who may have chronic illnesses, physical or memory challenges such as Alzheimer's or Parkinson disease, diabetes or heart disease.

We build the activity programs around the interests of GO members. Fitness cycling, Tai Chi, music appreciation, card playing, or discussing current events can all be part of a day's offerings. Supervised walks and outings to parks and museums are part of the program.

Services include daily transportation to and from the center, meals, individual plans of care, therapeutic and recreational activities (including daily exercise), health monitoring and family support programs. Flexible scheduling is available at GO.
